  1. Inspect the cool door seal and the outer edges of the inner door for food particles. Record where the residue sits before wiping.

  2. Look for splits or a seal pulled from its channel. Do not stretch, remove or refit a damaged gasket in this task.

  3. With power safely isolated, wipe food residue from the seal and door edges using a soft damp cloth. Use no steam cleaner, abrasive pad or bleach wipe.

  4. Check that the seal stayed seated and the wiped area is free of debris. Dry accessible moisture and check normal door closure without force.

  5. After safe power restoration, observe the next normal use from outside for leakage. Stop use if water escapes.

When to stop

  • Stop using the dishwasher for smoke, a burning smell, damaged wiring, an active leak or water near electrical equipment. Isolate power and water only from a safe, dry, accessible location; otherwise keep clear and request qualified help.
